Aircon Electricity Cost Per Hour in the Philippines
Open any Metro Manila electric bill and the aircon is hiding in 40–60% of it. It’s the most expensive comfort in the house, and almost nobody knows its actual hourly price. So here it is, at September 2026’s rate of ₱14.74/kWh, for the units people actually own.

A note on those wattages, because it matters: they’re average running watts, not the number on the sticker. An inverter unit sprints at full power to cool the room, then coasts once it holds temperature. The nameplate describes the sprint; your bill reflects the average. Four levers, ranked by how much they actually move the bill
Inverter over non-inverter. Look at the two 1 HP rows: ₱1,415 a month apart, same lamig. Nightly users repay the inverter’s price premium in one or two summers.
Right-size the unit. An undersized aircon never gets to coast — an inverter that can’t reach your set temperature spends all night in sprint mode, billing like a non-inverter.
25–26°C, hindi 20. Each degree colder adds roughly 5–10% to consumption. Your body adjusts to 25 in about a week; the bill adjusts immediately.
Seal and shade the room. The compressor pays for every watt of heat leaking in. A west-facing window with no curtain is a small heater aimed at your aircon’s paycheck, every afternoon.
